First Day of School! 100 degrees warmer than Minnesota

Before venturing off to school, we had a few people come over to our apartment to take First Day of School pictures.

The way that classes work at UCC is you get to go for a week before you actually register for the class to decide if you like it or not.  Today I decided to try out four classes, most of which I will end up having to take.  I started my day with Intro to Irish Archeology, its the biggest class I've ever been in with probably around 80-100 students.  The class is studying, well, the archeology of Ireland, from 8000BC to the 17th Century.  We get to go on two field trips to historic sites (who would have thought you would get field trips in college?!) and free entrance if we pay the 10 Euro for the bus.

The next class I went to was Human Nutrition in the Developing World; this class was about developed countries vs undeveloped countries and their nutrition issues.  It was a really interesting class, but I realized that I have a conflicting class on Thursday so I sadly won't be able to take it (Maybe I'll just sneak in and listen).

I had an hour long break before my Philosophy class so I headed to the student center and met up with another girl from my group.  She was heading back to the apartments to I sat at her table.  I was trying to get my computer set up and then this older man shuffles over and sits down across from me not saying anything.  I guess I'll have to get used to sharing tables with strangers.

After my Philosophy of Mind and Conscienceness class, I headed to the library to get my computer set up.  Ana and I waited in line and ran into Cam.  Once we got up the the desk everything started going wrong.  Ana's computer was dead, so she wouldn't be able to get it set up, and mine was just creating problems.  Combining our resources to the amusement of our new best friend Timmy the IT guy we got her computer charging and set up to connect to the wifi.  Eventually Timmy passed me and my problematic computer off to someone else and we got it connected.  Ana and I told Timmy we would bring him a coffee for him putting up with all of our issues and he responded with "We don't drink coffee, we only drink Tea and Pints, I prefer Guinness."  So I guess all these coffee shops are just for us poor Americans who can't go without our precious coffee.

About half of our group is taking a Traditional Irish Music class on Monday nights, so we went to that and then decided to go out to dinner as a group after, which was fun, but we were again unable to find traditional Irish food, I guess we will just have to wait until we go to a small town.
